Unable to verify student status via camera – alternative ID available

Hi everyone,

I’m facing an issue with the student verification process for the GitHub Student Developer Pack.

I’m unable to complete the camera-based verification because my physical student ID card is faded, and the details are not clearly visible on camera. Due to this, the verification step fails during live capture.

However, I do have an older PDF version of my official student ID that clearly shows my name, institution, and enrollment details. I’m willing to provide this document or any other required information for verification.

Could someone please let me know if there’s an alternative way to verify my student status or if the PDF version of the ID can be accepted?

Hi @Walker31,

Unfortunately, the upload option isn't always available and manual reviews aren't provided so you have to submit a live photo using your device's camera.

If the photo is blurry, try again until it looks good as also indicated in the Student Developer Pack Application FAQs:

Your first and last name, complete school name, and a date demonstrating current academic affiliation must appear in your document.
Make sure the image is clear and easy to read; if it looks blurry, please take a new photo. 👈

You can also try submitting the application from your phone.

Make sure to fill in your billing info and GitHub profile with your full name exactly as it appears on your academic transcript. Then log out and log back into GitHub before reapplying, because the application system gets stuck in a loop even after the required information has been updated.
